A silicone-rubber spacer insulates heat and dampens sound, so the pane insulates well right to the edges and condensation at the edges is negligible; the outer seal is HotMelt butyl from Bostik. The spacer is bonded with pressure-sensitive adhesive under pressure and conducts cold and sound much less than an aluminium spacer; the Bostik seal has a very low moisture vapour transmission rate (MVTR). Condensation at the edges of the pane indoors and water on window sills are therefore negligible, while such moisture can become a breeding ground for mould; the benefit is greatest where a window has many panes. The 5 mm spacer reaches only 8 to 9 mm into the pane. The old-house glass has a dark spacer that mimics the look of old single glass, so it is hard to tell whether the glass is single or double. According to Glertækni, renovations of listed houses used to require single glass, but after the old-house glass came on the market insulating glass with a dark spacer was allowed. 5-year manufacturing warranty on the assembly of the pane from the invoice date, provided the panes are glazed into ventilated rebates: water that gets into the glazing rebate must be able to drain out again so the pane does not stand in water.
